Benchmark begins public consultation on updating high energy anode specifications in the Anode Price Assessment

Benchmark Mineral Intelligence announced today that it has started a formal public consultation on changes to its Anode Price Assessment Methodology.

Anode material destined for EV end market

In response to increased demand for price indexes which reflect material specifically destined for the EV end market, Benchmark intends to alter the specifications of its high energy natural and synthetic graphite prices to reflect this.

Benchmark proposes to update the specification to outline a charging rate of >2.5C, which encompasses the high capacity material that is suitable for use in EV end markets.

In addition, Benchmark intends to update the specification of the grades under consultation to outline that only material destined for the EV market will be included in the assessment.

To continue to give an accurate and comprehensive assessment of price movements, Benchmark continues to monitor and evolve the product specifications under which its market leading price assessments are published.

The proposed changes would impact the following grades currently published by Benchmark:

Natural Graphite Anode; DDP China; High (360-370 mAh/g), Min 99.97% C

Synthetic Graphite Anode; DDP China; High (350-370 mAh/g), Min 99.97% C
