Benchmark to update high energy anode specifications in its Anode Price Assessments

Following the conclusion of a formal public consultation, Benchmark Mineral Intelligence is modifying the specification of its high energy anode material grades to include a minimum charging rate, relevant for EV applications. This modification to the methodology for two of the existing grades in the Benchmark Anode Price Assessment begins from 15 October 2025.

Two of Benchmark’s monthly anode price grades are affected:

Synthetic Graphite Anode High Energy, DDP China, ≥99.97% C, 350-370 mAh/g

becomes

Synthetic Graphite Anode High Energy, DDP China, ≥99.97% C, 350-370 mAh/g(>2.5C)

Natural Graphite Anode High Energy, DDP China, ≥99.97% C, 360-370 mAh/g

becomes

Natural Graphite Anode High Energy, DDP China, ≥99.97% C, 360-370 mAh/g(>2.5C)

These price assessments are available to Benchmark Anode Price Assessment subscribers on the 15thof the month or first working day following the 15thof the month, by 4pm (London), with accompanying market commentary and analysis issued shortly after publication.

“This update to our high energy anode grade specifications marks an important step in aligning our price assessment with the evolving requirements of the electric vehicle sector. It ensures they accurately represent the quality and characteristics now demanded by battery manufacturers,” said George Ingall, Price Analyst at Benchmark.
